13.WHAT IS THE SMART QUEUE?
A system called the Smart Queue is automatically implemented by Ticketmaster when an event is expected to be high-volume, but this varies per venue per event. A Waiting Room is utilized in order to protect buyers from ticket bots and provides the benefit of buyers selecting seats.
Note: The Waiting Room will open 30 Minutes prior to the event going on sale. You’ll want to join before the sale begins. Those who join the Waiting Room before the sale begins will be provided a random place in the Queue. If you join after the sale begins, you will be placed at the end.
For full details about the Smart Queue, please visit Ticketmaster’s website here or contact Ticketmaster directly for answers to any specific questions.
14. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT TICKET SCALPERS?
Unfortunately, the act of scalping is very commonplace and widespread, not only in music, but sports as well, and this is legal within the majority of the U.S. (with few restrictions). Once a ticket is sold through its original point of purchase, the ticket then belongs to the customer who purchased it. What this customer does with his/her purchase after completing the order through Ticketmaster is out of our control.
Ticket scalping is a reality that all concert promoters face every day on all shows of all different music genres. It’s likely that, if you search almost any show in any venue, you will find scalpers selling tickets for all of those shows as well.
As stated above, in order to help minimize ticket scalping, a system called the Smart Queue has started to be implemented by Ticketmaster when an event is expected to be high-volume, although this varies per venue per event. A Waiting Room is utilized in order to protect buyers from ticket bots and provides the benefit of buyers selecting seats.
For the same reason, the venues suggest setting the ticket limit between 4-8 tickets per order.
We will continue to look into this matter further with Ticketmaster and each venue to see what we can do about the exorbitant prices for resale tickets being sold via Ticketmaster and other third-party sites. We have been told for every show that there is little we can do about resales since it’s legal, but we will keep trying regardless.
